WAITING FOR OUR CHIBOK GIRLS

BY REUBEN AYODELE

KIDNAPPED CHIBOK GIRLS
April 15, 2014 will remain a dark and ugly day in Nigeria history. It was the day we all woke up only to discover that our beloved children more than 200 girls of Government School, Chibok Borno State were kidnap from their boarding school by the evil monsters called Boko Haram. It’s been over a year now and still counting, that these girls have been kidnap .They must be brought back alive, we must not allow evil to triumph over good.
In the bible Jesus makes reference to a shepherd that has 100 sheep and one got missing, he leaves the 99 to go and look for the one that was missing. How much more human beings that have been missing for over a year. The agony the parents and guardians of this children are passing through cannot be quantify or imagine.
If Boko Haram leader Shekau is faceless, our Chibok girls are not faceless. What happen to this chibok children could have happen to anyone of us, because of our weak intelligent gathering system which is reactive rather than proactive? The blame game by the federal government and the   Borno State government did not help issues, which unfortunately exposes Nigeria to international radicles. If we have mobilized resources earlier as we are currently doing I believe these girls would have been found and reunited with their respective families.
However, I salute the effort of our military personnel, who have in the past  few weeks rescue over 700 girls and women held hostages by Boko Haram, in the much dreaded sambisa forest. We are now happy that the belated efforts of the military are yielding results. From all the rescued victims thus far we are yet to find any of the captured girls from Government Secondary School, Chibok.
All hope is not lost, with prayers and continue support to our armed forces, I believe we shall see our Chibok girls, irrespective of whatever condition they have been subjected to by blood tasty elements call boko haram. As for the women and children already released they should be given effective supports, mental health care and medical care, they should also be granted access to save schools and for the 214 that were found pregnant should be given adequate medical attention.
I hope by now we would have learnt a lesson as a nation, even though an unpalatable one that never again will any of our citizen irrespective of gender, tribe religion or ethnic affiliation be exposed to   danger  We are all Nigeria.
