NIGERIA POLITICIANS: Epitome of Eleventh Hour

Nigeria Politicians
BY AYODELE SEUN

Nigeria is a country that is endowed with both human and natural resources which have not been fully utilize due to political institution dyfunctionalism of our society.
Nigeria politicians are full of dramatically display dancing, abusing of opponents and neglect of issues during electioneering campaign making use of all kinds of propaganda, antics and promises in order to win or retain power.
Nigeria politicians are compelled mostly during election period to implement project and fulfill the promises they made four years ago within some weeks to the next election. All these political antics is to gain electorate support for reelection or to persuade the electorate to vote for their anointed candidate  or to frustrate the incoming administration of another political party from achieving smooth take off of governance and some go the extend of empty the treasury.
Ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo implemented and awarded many project at the tail end of his administration in order to gain support for his then candidate Umaru Musa Yar’dua.President Goodluck Jonathan also implemented many project and fulfilled promises at the tail end of his administration like the war against Boko Haram which gain giant stride within six weeks to the general election.
Most Nigeria state governors tend to use these eleventh hour antics to gain people support or to frustrate the incoming government.Governor Alao Akala of Oyo state employ this antics by increase workers’ salaries at the tail end of his administration in order to frustrate the incoming administration of Abiola Adeyemi Ajimobi. Governor kayode fayemi of ekiti state also use this antics of eleventh hour by given employment to thousands of unemployed youths at the tail end of his administration to frustrate incoming administration of governor Ayodele Fayose. Governor Ibrahim Idris of  Kogi state also use this antics to gain electorate support for his candidate by increase workers salary at the tail end of his administration and the antic work for him because his anointed candidate Captain Idris Wada won the governorship election.
Recently, President Goodluck Jonathan has been giving out appointments and job recruitment at the eleventh hour of his administration all to frustrate the incoming government of Nigeria president-elect General Muhammadu Buhari .Federal ministries are on their toe now implementing and executing one project or the other at eleventh hour, Minister of federal capital territory (FCT) Sen. Bala Mohammed finally wake up from slumber wanting to turn FCT around within 6 weeks, executing projects at the eleventh hour ranging from fixing of traffic light and street light.
Many Nigeria state governor after they have lost election, use to employ  antics of eleventh hour by conducting local government election at the end of their administration regardless of the huge amount that will be wasted on this election. Governor Rotimi Amaechi wanted to use this antic to frustrate the incoming River state governor-elect, Wike Nyesom by conducting local government election.
Why must Nigerians wait for over three and the half years before experience dividend of democracy? Which only come through politicians antics to gain support from electorate during election?
The electorate must hold public officials on their electioneering promises, propaganda and antics in which they use for gaining support and also hold political party accountable on their manifesto. Nigeria must be accountable to and we must rise to these antics of our politicians who put political gain above economic emancipation.

Nigeria politicians must put country interest above their personal interest, Nigeria growth and development should be paramount.
