Tottenham Hotspur will host Arsenal
in the Capital One Cup after the third-round draw was made on Tuesday night.
The two north London rivals will
meet at White Hart Lane on the week commencing September 21.
It will be the third time in 10
years the north London rivals have met in the competition, with Arsenal
victorious in a two-legged semi-final in 2007, Spurs gaining revenge at the
same stage the following year with a 6-2 aggregate scoreline and Arsenal winning
4-1 after extra time in the third round in 2010-11.
Harry Kane was the hero for Spurs
the last time the sides met with the England international netting a brace as
Tottenham came from behind to win 2-1 at home back in February.
Manchester United will play Ipswich
at Old Trafford, while defending champions Chelsea travel to Walsall.
Chelsea beat Tottenham 2-0 in the 2015 final at Wembley
on March 1 and will begin their defence against the League Two side.
The draw has thrown up two other local derbies as Aston
Villa, who needed extra-time before eventually overcoming Notts County 5-3 at
Villa Park in the second round on Tuesday, come up against Birmingham.
While Crystal Palace, who also
needed extra-time to beat League One opposition Shrewsbury Town, welcome fellow
south-east Londoners Charlton Athletic to Selhurst Park.
After knocking out Queens Park
Rangers, League Two side Carlisle are rewarded with a trip to Anfield to take
on Liverpool.
Premier League leaders Manchester
City travel to the North-East to face Sunderland, who beat Exeter 6-3 on
Tuesday as Jermain Defoe grabbed a hat-trick, and Leicester City play West Ham.
In the final tie of the second round
Everton travel to Barnsley on Wednesday night with the winner taking on Reading
at the Madejski Stadium.
