Ooni of Ife is Alive, Says Royal Traditional Council

Controversies has trailed the death of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade, Olubuse II as the Royal Traditional Council of the town, Wednesday, said the paramount ruler is alive and in good state of health.
The RTC, which comprises of all traditional chiefs and title holders in Ile-Ife said Oba Sijuade is not only in sound state of health but added that the royal father was preparing for his son's wedding holding Sunday, next week, in Lagos.

BUHARI APPOINTS BOROH AS NEW COORDINATOR AMNESTY PROGRAMME

President Muhammadu Buhari has on Tuesday, approved the appointment of Brigadier-General paul Boroh (retd) as the coordinator of the Amnesty Programme for former Niger Delta militants.
According to the Media Special Adviser to the president, Femi Adesina, Brig. Boroh, whose appointment takes immediate effect.
The appointment of a new coordinator for the Amnesty Programme is expected to lead to the speedy resolution of recent hitches in its implementation such as the non-payment of outstanding allowances to ex-militants.

Gbajabiamila Emerges House Leader

Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has been announced as the leader of House of Representatives, while Hon. Alhassan Dogowa emerged as the chief Whip.
The speaker, Yakubu Dogara who announced this at the end of plenary, also said that Hon. Baba Jibrin is the Deputy Leader and Hon. Pally Iriase as the Deputy Chief Whip.
The position of Minority Leader went to Hon. Leo Ogor, the Deputy Minority Leader, Chukwuma Onyema,  Yakubu Umaru, Monirity Whip and Binta Bello, Deputy Minority Whip

Akpabio Emerges Senate Minority Leader

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the Senate on Tuesday in Abuja, announced the appointment of Sen.Godswill Akpabio (Akwa-Ibom North-West) as the Minorrity Leader in the Red Chamber. Making the announcement, President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, also announced the appointment of Sen. Emmanuel Bwacha (PDP Taraba South) as Deputy Minority Leader.
other appointees of the PDP are Sen. Philip Aduda (PDP FCT), Minority Whip and Sen. Biodun Olujimi (PDP Ekiti South)  Deputy Minority Whip.

INEC LOSES NATIONAL COMMISSIONER

Prof. Muritala Akintola Salau. INEC National Commissioner representing South-West, has died at 67.
Salau, a former Vice Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso, died at Turkish Hospital in Abuja after a brief illness on Saturday.
He was buried according to Islamic rites at the Muslim Cemetery, Moniya, Ibadan, on Sunday evening.

16-year-old Boy kills Toddler in Lagos

Ijanikin Otto community at Ijanikin area of Lagos was Monday morning thrown into mourning following the murder of a four-year-old boy by a teenager.
The victim identify as Ibrahim Jamiu Hassan was allegedly killed by one Tajudeen Azeez behind Anglican primary School, Ijanikin.

GUNMEN KIDNAP BAYELSA MONARCH

The peace of the riverside town of Tombia in the outskirt of Yenagoa, Bayelsa state capital was violated in the early hours of today(Thursday) by unidentified gunmen who kidnapped the paramount ruler of the community, His Royal Highness, Christian Otobotekere.

BUHARI RETURNS FROM US

President Muhammadu Buhari is back to Nigeria after a 3-day official trip to the United States of America.
He returned at the early hours of Thursday via Presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport,Abuja.
He was welcome by the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo and the service Chiefs.
President spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina confirmed the president's arrival.
While his journey lasted in America, president Buhari met with his US counter-part,Mr. Barrack Obama, his vice, Mr Joe Biden, seecretary of state, Mr. John Kerry  and several other officials of the U.S Government.
He also met with Nigerian community where he reiterated his commitment to better the lots of Nigerians both at home and abroad.

BUHARI APPOINTS ABDULLAHI MUHAMMADU NEW NSCDC BOSS

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Mr Abbdullahi Muhammadu as the Commandant-General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), a statement said.
The statement was issued by the Special Adviser, Media and Public to the President, Mr Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Friday. Muhammadu succeeds Dr Ade abolurin, who has retired from service.

Muhammadu holds a B.sc in sociology from the University of Sokoto and a master’s degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal justice from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. It said, the release added that the president wished Abolurin a happy retirement.

US Visit: Security,Economy My Top Priorities-Buhari

Ahead of his visit to the United States of America,USA, on Sunday, President Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed that core issues of security and economy would feature prominently in his talks with President Barack Obama.
A statement by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said Buhari will also hold different discussions with US Vice President, Mr Joe Biden; Chairman of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey and the Deputy Secretary of Defence, Robert Work.
Before leaving Washington DC, President Buhari would address the United States Chamber of Commerce and Corporate Council for Africa as well as meet with Nigerians resident in America.
It will be recalled that President Obama had on June 25 indicated interest to host him at the White House.
