JEGA ENDS TENURE AS INEC CHAIRMAN, HANDS OVER TO WALI

The formal INEC boss, who took over from Professor Maurice Iwu, assumed office on June 8, 2010 during the former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
Professor Jega officially hand over leadership to the commission’s National Commissioner, Ambassador Mohammed Wali, on Tuesday.
Under his tenure, the electoral body conducted the election that brought former President Goodluck Jonathan in and the March and April 2015 general elections that brought President Muhammadu Buhari in.
During his tenure , the INEC made remarkable input in the growth of Nigeria’s democracy, as both the general elections  of 2011 and 2015 were adjudged credible by observers.
“I am looking forward to taking a leave and resting and then going back to my job in the university-Teaching, research and community service,” Professor Jega stated.
His successor, Ambassador Wali hails from Sanyima town in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State, north-west Nigeria.
Before his appointment as INEC National Commissioner, Ambassador Wali was an Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science, Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto and Chief Executive Officer, Development Strategies International (DSI).

However, he would be acting as the INEC chairman till the end of his tenure in August 11, 2015.

BUHARI APPOINTS AHMED IDRIS ACCOUNTANT GENERAL

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Alhaji Ahmed Idris as the Accountant General of the Federation.
In a statement by Haruna Imrana, Director of Communications for the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Danladi Kifasi, Head of Service of the Federation who announced the appointment, said that the appointment is with effect from June 25, 2015.

Alhaji Ahmed Idris who hails from Kano State was born on the 25th November 1960 and was until his appointment the Director of Finance and Accounts  in the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development.

C. General Entry Requirements:
(a) National Diploma (ND) Programmes
SSCE or WASCE or GCE ‘O’ Level or NECO or NABTEB with at least 5 Credits obtained at not more than 2 sittings, which must include English Language, Mathematics and three other relevant subjects related to the programme of study.
(b) Higher National Diploma (HND) Programmes
1. Candidates are required to satisfy SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB entry requirements for the corresponding National Diploma programme.
2. Candidates are required to have completed a relevant National Diploma Programme not below LOWER CREDIT classification.
3. Candidates are required to have at least one year post- ND industrial work experience.
D. Mature Candidates:
Candidates with lower qualifications than the ones stated above but with at least three (3) relevant Credits and two (2) Passes could be considered for admission, provided such candidates are not below the age of 40 years and have a minimum of 15 years work experience at a SUPERVISORY LEVEL

vi. Then, Click on “Continue”
vii. Login with your username and password;
viii. Click on ”Pay” (you will make use of a Web enabled ATM card, Master or Verve card for your payment).
ix. Candidates are expected to make payment of the sum of N7,500) only (Seven Thousand five hundred naira only), Exclusive of Bank charges.
x. Complete your application as appropriate

BUHARI VOWS TO RECOVER LOOTS

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday told the governors of the 36 states to be ready for three months hardship. Buhari made the disclosure at the meeting with the governors at the Presidential Villa,Abuja.
He promise to recover funds stolen by government officials who abused their offices in the recent past as well as stop systemic leakages.
The president assured the governors that the days of impunity , lack of accountability and fiscal recklessness in the management of national resources were over in Nigeria.
"There are financial and administrative instructions in every government parastatal and agency, but all these were thrown to the dogs in the past.
